Responsibilities The ideal candidate will provide engineering and technical services on a variety of projects by applying sound engineering and technical expertise. This will include the application of industry and government standards and procedures to ensure the provision of safe and efficient engineering systems. The duties of this position will involve: • Participate in design of roads, highways and similar projects, including plans, specifications, contract documents, work schedules, detailed cost estimates and environmental assessments • Liaise with Consultants, Developers, Government Agencies, Contractors and Industry as appropriate. • Participate in the preparation of designs, plans, specifications, contract documents, work schedules, detailed cost estimates and environmental assessments. • Carry out site assessments and reviews
Requirements A Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent years of experience together with a good knowledge of theories, principles and practices of civil engineering related to roadway engineering and construction are required. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years Civil Engineering technology experience including formal education, project planning, design or construction. Knowledge of micro-computer applications is a must (AutoCAD, LDD, Civil 3D, Excel, etc.). You will have the ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, good public relation skills and the initiative to work without direct supervision. A valid Ontario Driver's License is required. You will be able to effectively work as team member or on individual assignments and will be able to travel to project sites as required. Surveying and contract inspection experience is an asset.
