StantecEnvironmental Planner - IntermediateOur Environmental Management group is dedicated to managing environmental issues professionally and proactively. Our staff of professionals includes specialists in marine biology, wetland science, wildlife biology, soil science, fisheries biology, botany, hydrogeology, hydrology, forestry, habitat and ecosystem restoration, permitting, GIS, and Information Management. We help our clients to identify and respond to opportunities and threats within constantly changing regulatory and corporate environments, through active engagement with the public, stakeholder groups, and governmental regulators. Our team members have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of projects that may include endangered species assessments, habitat restoration, wetland characterizations, and water resources management. Responsibilities:
Stantec Calgary's downtown (8th Ave) office is currently seeking Intermediate Environmental Planners to work as a part of our Environmental Planning and Permitting team.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Manage, lead and execute a wide range of large-scale proposals and environmental impact assessment projects from inception to completion. * Lead the preparation of applications for regulatory approvals in sectors such as oil and gas, energy, mining and linear works such as transmission, transportation and pipeline projects. * Define and manage project objective, scope, schedule, budget, contracts, subcontracts and multi-disciplinary project teams to ensure client and project team satisfaction. * Interact with and develop excellent relations with clients, regulators and stakeholders * Ensure QA/QC and H&S requirements and procedures are identified and followed throughout a project's life cycle. * Technical work, senior review of reports and proposals and presentations.
Qualifications:
* Relevant University degree from an accredited post secondary institution. * Minimum of 7 years experience in increasingly responsible environmental planning roles including; project management , environmental regulatory applications, client interaction and multi-disciplinary team management * Demonstrated working knowledge of provincial, territorial and federal environmental legislation including environmental assessment legislation. * Excellent leadership, communication, organizational and mentoring skills. * Effective interpersonal skills and ability to communicate complex issue to clients, regulators, and stakeholders. * History of relevant professional development * Proven and demonstrated high quality technical writing skills. * Experience in or a solid understanding of the consulting industry in a multidisciplinary environment.
