City of EdmontonPrincipal Planner, Intermunicipal Planning (Planner II)As the Principal Planner in the Intermunicipal Planning unit, you will provide full professional planner services related to land use planning, and related fields in the context of intermunicipal and regional planning for the City of Edmonton. Your responsibilities will entail:
* Reviewing and evaluating adjacent municipality development proposals for impact on the City of Edmonton, and the impact to adjacent municipalities of the City of Edmonton development proposals * Co-ordinating administration responses and recommendations on intermunicipal development proposals in adjacent municipalities by being the liaison with other city departments and agencies regarding City of Edmonton interests * Representing the City of Edmonton in planning studies and programs related to land use and development in boundary areas, regional planning and regional assets * Providing project leadership for projects involving land use and related studies resulting in development or change of City policies and procedures * Developing and maintaining policies, programs and relationships involving regulated industries such as oil & gas and power transmission.
Qualifications :
* A Master's degree (preferred), a Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, or a degree related to the functions of the position and four (4) years of progressively responsible land use planning experience that includes policy development and project management * Excellent computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite, GIS software and project planning * Knowledge of the principles and practices of urban planning, as well as applicable legislation and regulatory requirements * Knowledge and skills associated with land use planning, approvals and appeals processes * Superior communication skills (verbal & written), report writing and presentation skills * Proven ability in the areas of negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution * Strong organizational, interpersonal skills with a customer service focus.
Hours of Work: 33.75 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of a variable hours of work Salary Range: 21M, Salary Grade: 032, $38.958 - $49.714 (Hourly), $2,629.67 - $3,355.70 (Bi-Weekly), $68,634.260 - $87,583.640 (Annually).
