GIS Analyst

The City of Port Coquitlam's Engineering & Operations Department is seeking an experienced GIS Analyst to work on technical assignments developing, implementing, operating, maintaining and managing the City's GIS System.

Under the supervision of the GIS Coordinator, the GIS Analyst will work with other technical and non-technical staff and consultants on GIS and mapping assignments, develop policies and procedures related to the database management and mapping components of the GIS System, develop and support GIS applications including modeling and infrastructure asset management, develop documentation, procedures, and training manuals, train small groups of staff and carry out other related tasks.

The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the CUPE collective agreement. The 2010 salary range for this position is $2,290.25 $2,615.62 biweekly and the position includes a comprehensive benefits package after successful completion of a four-month probationary period.

Requirements

Requirements for this position include either a Degree in GIS & Mapping from a recognized University and three years of experience in applying CAD/GIS software in a municipal environment with a solid understanding of GIS fundamentals and business needs for a local government, or a Diploma in GIS & Mapping from a recognized Institute of Technology as well as five years experience in applying CAD/GIS software in a municipal environment with a solid understanding of GIS fundamentals and business needs for a local government.

Training and experience in the use of the following software for CAD/GIS systems: MapGuide, MicroStation, AutoCad Map, FME, Visual Basic, Microsoft SQL Server, and Access database software, would be an asset for this position. Familiarity with Tempest property records software, and Cayenta financial software, would also be an asset.
