Today, providing affordable housing of any kind is a tremendous task... it requires commitment to building healthy communities, developing strong community engagement principles, building on individual and community assets and ensuring service culture is embedded in every form of planning and delivery of service.
Be a champion and advocate for the development and maintenance of safe and affordable housing within a growing, innovative community. Consider the role of Director, Housing Implementation for the City of Edmonton and:
- Lead in the delivery and performance management by ensuring continued processes and procedures are in place for long-term housing grant programs such as Cornerstones, Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program (RAPP) and the Low-income Housing Capital Assistance Program
- Lead the development and delivery of the City of Edmonton's First Place Program and associated projects to utilize additional surplus school sites for affordable housing
- Coordinate planning, strategy, and implementation activities for short, medium and long term Inclusionary Affordable Housing strategies including the delivery of programs for broader corporate initiatives such as the Boyle Renaissance Project
- Direct the delivery of enforcement programs (Secondary Suites interspersed with Derelict and Safe Housing initiatives) to ensure existing multiple occupancy rental housing and suites meet the minimum standards for adequacy and safety
- Improve business and financial planning and monitoring in alignment of the Branch strategic business plan and ensure provision of financial planning and monitoring activities to effectively allocate and track over $100 million in housing grants
- Facilitate the communication of corporate and strategic business plans to internal and external stakeholders including direct participation on various working/steering committees and prepare operating budget submissions required to deliver Branch programs
- Provide leadership and supervision of a diverse team in alignment of Branch goals, objectives, initiatives and directions. Oversee performance objectives, mentoring, and team building while encouraging innovation
:
- Demonstrated 10 years of progressively responsible experience in program management and delivery of housing projects within government organizations or a large non-profit or private agency, or related experience in program management and delivery for land development and/or capital projects
- Bachelor Degree (Masters desirable) in Urban Planning or Architecture or a related discipline such as Civil Engineering, with additional education in real estate development and financing and/or business administration. Certificates in Project Management and Real Estate Development/Financing are also desirable
- Proven registration, or eligibility for registration, as an Alberta Community Planner and membership, or eligibility for membership, in the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP)
- Architect registered with the Alberta Association of Architects
- Recognized organizational, leadership, planning, project management and creative problem solving skills are required
- Demonstrated strong skills in coordinating stakeholder input and contributions from in-house staff and external consultants in multi-disciplinary and cross-departmental settings
- Ability to challenge the status quo and maintain an "open for business" approach to satisfy political expectations
- Ability to work diplomatically and persuasively with community groups, developers and non-profit agencies are also required
- General knowledge of housing feasibility analysis, contracting procedures, real estate and development agreements, municipal development approval processes, property management and ability to review building drawings and specifications
- Ability to efficiently manage multiple projects and work independently
- Excellent supervisory and management skills to develop and maintain staff excellence under the direction of the incumbent
- Exceptional interpersonal and presentation (verbal and written) skills
- Highly developed proficiency with MS Office applications and tools

Hours of Work: 36.9 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of a variable hours of work program.
Salary Range: 91M; Salary Grade: PT4; $88,211.340 - $126,014.55 (Annually).
