Brief Description

We are looking for a talented individual to join our Application Services team as a full-time permanent Systems Analyst. This exciting opportunity involves working on EPCOR's key Geographic Information Systems and other related CAD/GIS tools.

In this position, you will grow and develop a solid understanding of spatial databases and GIS systems, as related to the electricity business, and work with a number of development languages. You will also have the opportunity to participate in numerous project and operational activities, develop a solid understanding of enterprise application development and management, and be part of a team that will play a key role in the future direction of EPCOR's businesses.

Detailed Description

The accountabilities of the Systems Analyst include, but are not limited to:

Participating as a developer in major projects at the discretion of the reporting Manager.

Developing enhancements for our CAD/GIS applications.

Providing operational support, including troubleshooting and proactive monitoring of existing applications.

Improving Application Services through continuous knowledgebase updates with a focus on continuous process improvements.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

Completed post-secondary Computer Science or Engineering degree or Computer Engineering/System Technology or Management Information Systems diploma.

Minimum of 4-6 years of directly related work experience (applicants who do not meet the full qualifications of the posting may be considered for a developmental opportunity).

Previous experience with System Delivery Life Cycle using one or more common programming languages.

Ability to react with urgency to troubleshoot critical issues when faced with application availability situations.

Well-developed technical proficiency in the current technology stack and an excellent understanding of business process and business requirements for applications.

Proven ability to possess strong skills in the following:

Oracle PL/SQL

Understanding of GIS concepts

.Net or Java

Knowledge of the following would be desirable:

Oracle Spatial

Microstation

Smallworld Magik

Mapinfo

Oracle ODI

The successful candidate must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Wage: $43.27 - $51.60 per hour

Hours of work: 7.5 hours per day, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
