GIS Specialist

Reporting to the Traffic Engineering Supervisor or Project Manager:

The incumbent will:

- Collect, manipulate, analyze and maintain geographical data as it relates to the Traffic Engineering and Operations Division
- Compile, format and distribute requested GIS data and information as directed by senior staff
- Provide project-based GIS and related technology support to the Traffic Engineering and Operations Division
- Provide education, training and support to GIS users within the Division
- Support senior staff by implementing newly developed applications

The successful applicant will possess:

- A post-secondary diploma in Geography, Computer Sciences and/or Environmental Studies or equivalent combination
of education and experience
- A post graduate GIS Certificate
- Certified Training Courses completed in ESRI ArcGIS 1 and 2, Building Geodatabase and Programming with ArcObjects
- Experience working with GIS applications including ESRI ArcGIS
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal, project management and organizational skills
- The ability to learn new technologies, work independently and in a team environment
- A valid Ontario Class 'G' Driver's Licence
    CUPE 1764 Salary
    This position is with Salary Grade 5 and will be paid at the following hourly rates:

- Start:  $31.91      - Six Month:  $33.69      - Job:  $35.46
