North West Geomatics Ltd.

Mapping Technician

Calgary, Alberta

North West Geomatics Ltd. is a successful geomatics firm specializing in aerial data acquisition and processing. If you have a background in DEM/DSM and aerial triangulation and are looking to work a flexible schedule, consider building a rewarding career as a Mapping Technician with our leading edge operation. Although solid technical skills are essential for this role, we're focused on finding someone who is also energetic, driven and highly organized and who communicates well and thrives within a team environment. If that's you, read on.

As a mapping technician, you will work out of our modern facility to:

  • prepare and ensure quality control of digital elevation models (DEM)
  • perform aerial triangulation (AT)
  • create and ensure quality assurance of stereo imagery
  • prepare data for AT
  • create and provide quality assurance of ortho-rectified imagery
  • provide assistance with product deliverables to clients.

You have a degree in geography, geomatics or other related field, but we'll also consider your 2 years of related work experience in a production environment. Your experience in ArcMap, SOCET SET and Excel rounds out your qualifications, as does knowledge of digital surface models (DSM), DEM and aerotriangulation and orthophotos.

North West Geomatics Ltd. is part of Hexagon, a leading global provider of design, measurement and visualisation technologies that enable customers to design, measure and position objects, and process and present data. Although small in size—we're a close-knit team of 50—we are big in stature. We've earned a reputation for high quality aerial mapping and spatial data delivery and for fast, efficient service among the environmental consulting firms, government agencies and other organizations that use us. We are ISO 9001 and OHSAS certified and house the largest library of speculatively collected high resolution imagery and LiDAR in Canada.

This Mapping Technician role is a salaried position, with a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits. Interested applicants are invited to submit resumes to: hr@nwgeo.com.

Please note that only applicants legally qualified to work in Canada will be considered for this role. We would like to thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
