Role

Are you an enthusiastic and experienced GIS Technologist looking to become part of a dynamic team? The Information Management Branch within Corporate Services and Information Division has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and dedicated individual who will provide expertise in the use of geographic information systems (GIS). Using spatial data, remote sensing data, GIS and computer-aided design (CAD) software you will do geospatial analysis and transactions to support enterprise systems such as the Transportation Infrastructure Management System (TIMS). TIMS provides an accurate inventory of infrastructure for use by the Ministry and the public. You will play an integral role in supporting Alberta Transportation core business goal of improving the Provincial Highway Infrastructure and in providing a safe, economical and effective transportation system.

Your strong interpersonal and communication skills are important in building and maintaining positive working relationships to service providers and clients and providing advice to engineering consultants and ministry staff members on geospatial data and related matters. Your solid understanding of engineering standards and guidelines along with your technical expertise in the use of GIS tools will assist you in analyzing roadway designs, interpreting geospatial data and finding geospatial solutions for clients. Also, your interactions with others, research, and technical skill will enable you to maintain geospatial data within enterprise systems.
Your excellent organizational, analytical and problem solving skills are essential to your success in this challenging environment.

Qualifications

A Diploma in Civil Engineering, Geomatics, or GIS Technology plus 6 years of progressively responsible experience is required. Demonstrated knowledge in geospatial information systems plus knowledge in one of the following roadway disciplines: survey, planning, design, or geometrics is required. Experience in using Intergraph - GeoMedia is an asset. Equivalencies in a related education and experience will be considered. Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification.

Salary

$2,476.67 - $3,252.15 bi-weekly, ($64,641 - $84,881 annually)
