Position Purpose

Reporting to the Program Manager, Transportation Planning, is responsible for reviewing and commenting on transportation impacts of official plans, secondary plans and major development applications; producing and analyzing travel demand forecasts; and determining the need and impacts of future transportation facilities.


Qualifications

• University degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Engineering or Planning, or related discipline or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Registration with a recognized professional planning or engineering organization.
• Minimum three (3) years of demonstrated experience in transportation planning.
• Thorough knowledge of transportation planning principles, concepts, practices, methods and legislation, GTA context and roles of different levels of government.
• Demonstrated knowledge of transportation and environmental science, modelling methodology, tools and techniques, TDM measures, pedestrian and cycling facilities planning, transit systems, roads planning and design standards.
• Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer service, communication, team work, initiative/self management and accountability, and flexibility/adaptability.
• Computer literacy utilizing MS Office software applications as well as proficiency with the application of specialized software relevant to the technical specialty.
• Ability to identify issues, challenges and opportunities and propose solutions.
• Ability to negotiate/facilitate, build consensus and present information to varied audiences.
• Ability to travel to off site locations in a timely and efficient manner, as required.
• Ability to work outside normal business hours, as required.
