GIS Technician
Extensively detail-oriented, you will provide Geographic Information System (GIS), CAD, and data support for the electric and water systems and produce the associated custom thematic maps, diagrams, schematics, and reports. An excellent collaborative worker, you will support the development and maintenance of the Corporate GIS, and related Asset Management Programs, by managing the collection, input, verification, analysis, maintenance, interpretation, and evaluation of field-asset data. You will also liaise and troubleshoot with internal stakeholders as required.
Your three-year diploma in a Geospatial related field (e.g. GIS, Cartography or Geomatics) is complemented by one to two years of relevant experience, preferably in a utility environment. Knowledgeable of the technical and operational nature of structural components used in electric and water utility systems, you are also familiar with the development and application of GIS, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and have a thorough understanding of database integration. You are proficient using Microsoft Office suite and have a valid Class G driver’s licence. Web-based knowledge and custom-programming ability is considered an asset.
