Consider this exciting opportunity with the Ministry of Transportation to oversee the environmental planning component of a range of assigned projects to ensure compliance with environmental legislation, regulations and procedures.
What can I expect to do in this role?
In this role, you will: • provide professional planning and advice related to all aspects of environmental assessment and protection processes • assess projects to determine requirements for environmental protection • conduct environmental assessments and field inspections • provide technical advice and support to project managers • prepare technical reports and recommend remedial actions
How do I qualify?
Mandatory • Proficiency in English and advanced level oral French
Technical Knowledge and Experience: • You have knowledge of environmental planning practices • You have experience with Ontario or other environmental assessment decision-making processes and principles (i.e. data gathering, identification of criteria, public consultation, evaluation, trade-offs, mitigation and monitoring) • You have proven ability to interpret and apply environmental assessment legislation and other environmental legislation • You are familiar with fundamentals of various legislation that will be commonly used on the job (e.g. Environmental Assessment Act, Environmental Protection Act, Fisheries Act, Endangered Species Act) and related legislation • You have demonstrated experience in transportation planning and design, or related field.
Communication, Negotiation and Interpersonal Skills: • You have well developed communication skills to give directions and respond to public inquiries in a professional manner. • You have proven negotiation and interpersonal skills.
Project Management and Organizational Skills: • You have proven organizational and project management skills to conduct assigned projects and meet tight deadlines • You are able to work independently on a range of projects with multiple deadlines
Analytical, Research and Problem-Solving Skills: • You have demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills including knowledge of research and data analysis and evaluation techniques.
