Alberta Treasury Board and Finance, Edmonton. Staffed by a knowledgeable and experienced team, the Office of Statistics and Information (OSI), within Treasury Board and Finance, is the provincial statistics agency with a responsibility to plan, promote, consolidate and develop social and economic statistics and analysis for Alberta. This includes facilitating the annual production of Alberta Official Statistics, producing population estimates/projections that underpin program and policy planning throughout the Government of Alberta (GOA), developing detailed economic impact analysis of GOA programs, policies and of private sector projects, and quarterly and occasional reports on select topics; and coordinating statistical standards across the GOA, negotiates access to data and data sharing and leads several working groups and user networks for the benefit of the GOA.

Reporting to the Chief Statistician, this position is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction for geo-statistical activities in the GOA. Your development of and participation on various cross ministry initiatives and committees will build an informed and coordinated approach to geo-statistical information and practices to ensure the transparency and credibility of GOA's statistical products.

A key deliverable of this position is the design and development of an interoperable GOA Statistical Spatial Framework, for use by any department developing or analyzing socio-economic data in the context of geographic location.

As in integral member of the OSI team, you will demonstrate your excellent negotiation and communication skills to build collaborative working relationships across the GOA. With your expertise in applying GIS in statistics, demography, economics and related socio-economic disciplines, you will be a key resource in the division, as you demonstrate excellent problem solving skills with a strong inclination for innovation and creativity. You will be required to manage multiple projects with competing timelines to get positive end results.

Salary: $3,062.51- $4,121.25 bi-weekly ($79,931-$107,564 annually) Closing Date: January 22, 2016. Job ID # 1033629.

Qualifications: A university degree related to one or more of geographic information systems, computer sciences or social sciences supplemented with a minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible experience in geospatial analysis, or the equivalent is required.

The following would be considered as assets:

•Experience working with geo-statistical data at the management level;

•Experience developing or analyzing socio-economic data in the context of geographic location;

•Ability to apply negotiation and communication skills to build engagement and collaborative working relationships.

Equivalencies will be considered on the basis of 1 year of education for 1 year of experience, or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
