GIS Technician

CPP Environmental is currently seeking a GIS Technician to join our team of professionals. The work schedule will be approximately 5 days/40 hours per week.

Start date early to mid-July 2016.

Opportunity Description

Based out of our office in Sherwood Park, Alberta the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work as a GIS Technician.

Responsibilities include:

  • Completion of assigned GIS tasks under the supervision of the Lands Manager.
  • GIS data management and support to project leads and staff.
  • Performing basic data analysis and spatial queries.
  • Digitizing, editing, and building GIS data for a variety of projects.
  • Undertaking data analyses and data conversion.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in GIS. Consideration will be given to candidates with a natural resource or environmental sciences background and extensive GIS related work experience and training.
  • Minimum two (2) full years of GIS related experience.
  • A valid driver’s license.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have the ability to use their skills and experience in developing and delivering high quality GIS services and products for our clients.

Attributes of the ideal candidate:

  • Well-spoken and able to articulate concepts and solutions clearly to project team members.
  • Working experience with, but not limited to, the following software: 
  1. ESRI GIS software suite of products (ArcGIS)
  2. Global Mapper
  • Working experience with GIS deliverables related to natural resource development.
  • Experience providing GIS services to private industry and government agencies.
  • Knowledge and experience working on projects that deal with LiDAR, 3D modelling, geodatabase concepts, and watershed mapping.
